Merzouga desert camps with private bathrooms for families are a short list once you check the child policy. Of the six camps we checked, three list a private bathroom and accept children of all ages: Merzouga Sahara Luxury Camps, Sahara Luxury Camps and Dwo Golden Camp Merzouga. The family fit still depends on the room occupancy and the extra bed policy. One can add extra beds. Two cannot.

Which camps made the short list

A private bathroom is the first filter, not the whole decision. A camp can list a private bathroom and still have a room that is too small for your family. It can accept children and still have a long transfer from the car, a late dinner or an open fire pit near the tent.

What a private bathroom means in a desert camp

A private bathroom usually means the room has its own bathroom rather than a shared block. It does not always mean the bathroom is inside the tent. Some camps have a private bathroom in a separate structure beside the tent. Some have hot water only at certain hours.

Ask where the bathroom is, whether it is inside the tent, whether the hot water runs all day and whether the toilet is a flush toilet. A private bathroom with a cold shower at 6 a.m. is not the same family setup as a bathroom inside the tent.

Merzouga Sahara Luxury Camps

This is the camp to check first for a larger family. The Family Tent has 3 bedrooms, 7 single beds and 4 living rooms, and is listed for 5 guests with up to 4 children. A private bathroom is listed for the room. Children of all ages are welcome.

The limit is the listed occupancy, not the bed count. Extra beds cannot be added, and crib policies vary by room. If your family is larger than 5 guests, the Family Tent is not a solution just because it has 7 single beds. Ask for the exact occupancy and the room layout before you book.

Sahara Luxury Camps

This is the camp to check if you need an extra bed or a crib. Children of all ages are welcome, a private bathroom is listed for the room, and cribs and extra beds can be added for a fee.

The room shown is a Deluxe Double or Twin for 2 guests plus 1 child. The extra bed policy is generic, so confirm that the extra bed is allowed for the room you book. The fee is not included in the room total. Ask for the extra bed price, the crib price and whether the crib is guaranteed, not just available.

Dwo Golden Camp Merzouga

This is the simplest of the three if your family fits the existing beds. Children of all ages are welcome and a private bathroom is listed for the room. Cribs and extra beds cannot be added.

The Deluxe Tent is listed for 4 guests, with up to 3 children, and has 2 single beds and 2 sofa beds. Ask for the exact bed configuration, the bathroom location and the hot water hours.

Add a camel trek to the camp stay

The camp booking covers the room. If you also want a camel trek and sandboarding, this 7 hour activity includes pickup and dinner in a luxury camp. It is an activity, not a room booking, so it does not replace the private bathroom check.

The listing says it is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Ask whether the pickup works from your camp, whether dinner is at the same camp, and whether the camel and sandboard details fit your child.

What to confirm before you pay

  • The current child age policy, in writing.
  • The room occupancy for your exact family.
  • Extra bed or crib availability, and the fee.
  • Whether the bathroom is inside the tent or in a separate block.
  • Hot water hours and whether the toilet is a flush toilet.
  • How far the tent is from the car and the camel loading point.
  • Whether the camp is inside the dunes or on the edge.
  • Whether there are open edges, stairs or a fire pit near the tent.
  • The exact transfer from Merzouga village to the camp.
  • Dinner time and whether water is included.
  • Cancellation terms.

Merzouga camps we excluded and why

Yakout Merzouga Luxury Camp. Children are not permitted. It does not fit a family page.

Desert Luxury Camp Merzouga. Children aged 8 and above are welcome. That fits an older child trip, but it excludes families with children under 8, so it is not on this all ages list.

Overnight Camp Merzouga and Camel Tours. It lists shared bathrooms, so it fails the private bathroom promise.

We did not exclude these camps because they are bad. We excluded them because the current policy or bathroom setup does not match the question.
